Vix, I see that we have lots in common: many of the same plants and - puppies. Well, actually my "puppy" is 11 years old. I say puppy because at 4 pounds, she's a perpetual puppy.
Your climate is a lot warmer than mine, I'm sure. But still, there are many things we both can grow. Did you see Rusty's (DragonFly Garden) latest post on Heliconia rostrata? There's a plant that would do well where you're at. Mine's a little slow here.
Yes, I did indeed see the post at DragonFly Garden. I love that plant, as I mentioned to Rusty in my comment, but unfortunately, no nursery here carries it. So it would really be a matter of me finding someone who would be willing to share.
